Barra da Tijuca has the priviledge of hosting the longest beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; an 18 Km clear and tropical green water beach extension.
Barra da Tijuca, is one of Rio de Janeiro's youngest areas and neighborhoods. It’s high standard of living has turned it into one of the fastest growing areas of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

Barra de Tijuca denominates a neighbourhood an administrative region of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
At Barra da Tijuca Administrative Region we find the following neighbourhoods: Barra da Tijuca, Joá, Itanhangá, Camorim, Vargem pequena, Vargem Grande, Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Grumari.

Buses: Not all busses circulate along the whole beach extension, so pick carefully the bus that will take you to the right location, keeping in mind that Barra da Tijuca is a big place.
Vans: The typicall wihte vans of Rio de Janeiro also go to Barra da Tijuca. You can catch any of these vans from Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon and downtown Rio. Just stick your hand out when they approach you and they’ll pick you up.

At Barra da Tijuca we find: The largest convention center in Latin America, "Rio Centro", the largest shopping mall too, "Barra Shopping", with over 650 shops, and its own monorail system, and the biggest water theme park, "Rio Water Planet".
BEACHES OF BARRA DA TIJUCA RIO DE JANEIRO:
The first beach that we find in the 18 km coastline of Barra da Tijuca is called Praia do Pepê. It´s a very popular an cool beach of Rio de Janeiro.
The middle part of the Barra da Tijuca coastline is occupied by the "Praia da Reserva" beach, a series of beaches located on a biological preserved area.
At the end of Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, we find Recreio dos Bandeirantes beach and neighbourhood.
BEACHES AFTER BARRA DA TIJUCA RIO DE JANEIRO:
Passing Barra da Tijuca and Recreio areas, the visitor will find Prainha and Grumari beaches, in Rio de Janeiro. Their perfect waves have made them both famous and very popular. Grumari and Prainha beaches are both located between mountains on a biological preservation area, with restricted car parking spaces.
