Recreio dos Bandeirantes is a beach and neighbourhood located in the western area of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Recreio dos Bandeirantes is located after Barra da Tijuca beach, neighborhood, and region (40 km away from Rio de Janeiro´s center).
Like all the neighbourhoods of the western area of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Recreio dos Bandeirantes is a relatively new zone, but it already summons up the residence of 40.000 people.
Recreio dos Bandeirantes is a middle to high class district that neighbors the following areas: Barra da Tijuca, Camorim, Vargem Pequena, Vargem Grande, Grumari and Barra de Guaratiba.

The urbanistic design and construction style of Recreio dos Bandeirantes is substancially different from that of Barra da Tijuca. At Barra da Tijuca we find high buildings and skycrapers, and at Recreio dos Bandeirantes, we mainly see low buildings. Nevertheless you will find them pretty luxurious.
Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Rio de Janeiro, is a neighbourhood planned to bare an infraestructure to assure a high quality of life. The only problem is driving downtown, it can take you up to two hours.

At Recreio dos Bandeirantes district we find three beaches of Rio de Janeiro: 1) Recreio dos Bandeirante´s Beach, that starts after Praia da Reserva beach, which is located at the end of Barra da Tijuca district (going west); 2) Pontal Beach, that is the beach located in front of the Pontal Rock; and 3) Macumba beach that stretches up until the mountain that marks the beginning of the road towards Prainha and Grumari beaches.

The beaches of Recreio dos Bandeirantes are regularly frequented by surfers. It´s shores and waves hosts a number of international surf and bodyboarding. tournaments.
Ther are to main surf spots at Recreio dos Bandeirantes beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They are both located at the end of the beach, near "Pedra do Pontal", (Pontal Rock). The surf spots are "Posto 10" and "Canto do Recreio".
The municipality of Rio de Janeiro is creating a Surf neighbourhood to satisfy all the needs that te practice of this sport requires.
Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, also counts with a famous skating rink located at Pedra do Pontal.
